Paying double for coffee on Black Friday

Our Values

This Black Friday weekend, we're doing things differently: you have the option to pay double for your coffee. That's right: from November 29 to December 2, 2024, our coffees in the online store will cost twice as much. Inspired by Garçoa's Cacao Friday, we are celebrating the hard work of our producers rather than offering discounts. Why? Coffee prices worldwide are usually still far too low.

Our producers work extremely hard - from planting and cultivation to harvesting and processing. In the conventional coffee market, they rely on the fluctuating global market price. This has fluctuated greatly recently and even when it is high, it does not take into account different production costs from country to country or particularly high quality. Low coffee prices make it difficult for many producers to cover their costs and rise above the poverty line.

At Drip Roasters, we focus on direct trade and long-term relationships with transparency for both parties. This enables us to pay prices that are significantly higher than the usual market prices - and even higher than Fairtrade prices. But sustainable coffee remains a challenge.Paying double this Black Friday is a way to highlight the issue and support impactful projects. Of course, your contributions are welcome year-round. By the way: If paying double isn’t an option, the regular fair price will still be available.

Our 1% Support Fund

All additional proceeds from the Black Friday campaign go into our 1% support pot. Every year, we give at least 1% of our annual turnover from the café and online store back to the coffee-growing countries. We use this pot to support:

  • Direct price premiums: most recently e.g. for T'xayalaj in Guatemala
  • Education and future projects: such as Gente del Futuro in Kenya or Bean Voyage
  • Equal opportunities: most recently, for example, we financed the participation of one of our producers at the Women-Powered Coffee Summit

How can you get involved?

Online store:

From November 29 to December 2, 2024, you can buy coffee at double the price - or make a conscious decision to pay the regular price. The normal price remains the same: fairly calculated and yet affordable. This way, high-quality coffee remains accessible to all.

Café on Eigerplatz, Bern:

You can also make a statement on site this weekend: With every purchase, you have the opportunity to leave a voluntary donation and thus provide additional support for our producers.

Outside of Black Friday:

You have the opportunity to leave a voluntary donation with every purchase in our online store - even independently of Black Friday. The donated amount goes entirely to the growing countries. Part of the money collected goes directly to the producers who produce our coffees. The other part supports sustainable and charitable initiatives in the communities where coffee is grown.
