Since these grinders are manufactured to order in small runs, your Lagom Casa will be shipped about 6-14 weeks after you place your order. The 65CL burrs (to-be-announced) are still under development and are expected to be available in Q3.

The Lagom Casa by Australian coffee gear manufacturer Option-O is available with two different burr sets, both suitable for filter and espresso brewing. The grind path and the whole grinder design were optimized to help reduce retention – what's commonly referred to as «low retention», making the Lagom Casa suitable for on-demand dosing without the need for purging.

There are two burr set options available for the Lagom Casa. They are both capable of grinding for all brewing methods. While burr size matters, the team at Option-O believes that burr design plays an equally significant role.

The Mizen 48MS burrs are versatile all-rounders, excelling in filter coffee while providing stellar performance in espresso (medium clarity). In the industry, conical burrs are typically referred to by their outer diameter. The 65-variant burrs, while adhering to this naming standard, have a grinding surface similar to common 63mm conical burrs on the market, and offer approximately 1.5 times quicker grinding performance compared to the 48-variant. During manufacturing, the 65-variant burrs are further machined down to achieve seamless cross-compatibility between 48- and 65-variant burrs within the same grinder housing. The Mizen 65CL burrs are primarily aimed to deliver faster grind times and improved grind characteristics, particularly for espresso.

A brushless DC (BLDC) motor can offer up to 3 times the output torque compared to an equivalently-rated AC motor. The Casa is intentionally designed to run at a low RPM, which helps bring out more uniform grind quality with the Mizen burrs.

All critical parts of the grinder are CNC-machined to a tolerance of <10 micron. These parts are all confirmed using industrial CMM (coordinate measuring machine) post-machining – or else they are rejected. No user alignment is necessary. Each unit is thoroughly checked and tested before shipping to ensure its quality. Occasional micro-scratches or cosmetic flaws (not noticeable from a distance of 10cm+) may occur during handling and final quality control.

This grinder is equipped with a 2-pole EU plug (type F) and an adapter for Swiss outlets.

The price includes the prepaid recycling charge (vRG) of CHF 2.31.
